The way you think controls everything you do. It’s so simple, right? Well, yes and no. The way you think takes some WORK. Thinking positively doesn’t always come easy to everyone, but consistently setting time for a little self-care everyday goes a long way toward alleviating your anxiety.

“Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”

Albert Einstein

As someone who struggles with anxiety, I have seen how the way I think controls my life. There have been times where nothing particularly stressful would happen to me, but I could feel my anxiety building up; my mind would just begin to run off in every different direction. I came to realize when I had a consistent self-care routine every morning and night, my mental health improved substantially.

Now listen to this (it’s some matrix-type stuff). Becoming aware of your anxiety is the is the key to relieving your anxiety. This is also called mindfulness. There are a few different ways to become mindful throughout the day, but journaling is an easy way to implement it into your life daily.  Below are the top journals that have helped me become more mindful along the way.

This journal is so fun and quirky. It’s Gonna Be Okay has a quote on every other page by very successful people; now, I don’t know about you but the reminder of knowing even successful people endure stress and anxiety really puts things in perspective!

As for actual journal content, this journal provides a lot of flexibility for writing thoughts. This factor is nice for people who like to write freely and do not have trouble putting thoughts into words.

Five Minute Journal is a more structured journal. It has both a morning and night writing section, which in total add up to only FIVE minutes daily (so no excuses.) For such a short amount of time, it provides such a positive impact.

There is about five to six questions per day, which makes it a nice journal for those who have trouble writing freely. Because the questions are the same every day, it creates consistency in your mind; therefore, you begin to believe what you write.

If you love making lists, 52 Lists is the journal for you! Writing your goals down can really make your dreams turn into reality. 52 Lists is definitely a goal-setting journal, so if achieving your goals is something that is important to you, this is the journal for you! Besides, the aesthetic is soooo cute!

Lemme just say, it has narwhals…need I say more!  All jokes aside, Zen as F*ck is a beautiful, bright, and colorful journal. If you are a visual person, this journal has sooo many beautiful illustrations that will make you feel all happy and, well — zen. This journal is definitely for the adventurers and free spirits out there!

Just be mindful…

Even taking a minute to jot down a few things you are thankful for every day on a piece of paper will help. The key to relieving anxiety is becoming mindful of that anxiety and taking action to take care of you everyday.
